Chrissy Teigen has been surrounded by accusations from her fellow celebrity friends and colleagues to which she has publicly apologized. Amidst the allegations, Michael Costello, a popular celebrity fashion designer rose with his share of disheartening experience with Chrissy.
Costello wrote, "For the past 7 years, I've lived with deep, unhealed trauma, I didn't share this with anyone because I was living in fear. In fear of losing some of my most profitable brand relationships, in fear of losing friends and allies, and in fear of being blacklisted even more by the power elites who run the industry."
Michael was accused of practicing racism back in 2014 following a fake video of him where he was seen using the n-word. Chrissy was quick to take to Instagram and form opinions about him based on the fake video. Teigen’s comment on Costello who was an aspiring designer at that time meant everything for his career. He shared that he tried to reach out to Chrissy and explain the mishap and propaganda against him. He received threats of being kicked out from the industry in response from the actress.

A day after Michael put forth his accusations towards Chrissy, singer Leona Lewis took to her Instagram to announce her share of similar experiences from Michael Costello. She started on her experience as "I usually don't speak on subjects like this, but honestly I feel that I have to say something as I've dealt with years of insecurity from it."
Lewis shared how Michael was not at all interested to alter a fitting on a sample dress for her at her visit. She even had to cancel her appearance on the show because of Michael's commitment issues. She highlighted the fact that she had to answer the media for her last-minute withdrawal from the event, which portrayed her as a bad person, which she was not.
Leona had to come up with last-minute cover-ups for Michael Costello. In defense of Chrissy Teigen being hounded by the accusations Lewis wrote "I'm so proud of how curves are celebrated today but back then it was a different story and there was hardly any representation for women who were not a standard small size".
Furthermore, she added, "I know that his designs are catered to women of all sizes now, and I'm glad he saw the light over the years. We all make mistakes, I know I have, but at this time I feel that when people apologize and show sincere remorse and rehabilitation for their actions, we should embrace them and not try and kick them when they're down."

Lewis also wrote that she was not with the wrong that Michael had to face but she advocated Chrissy’s accountability "I'm not discounting Michaels’s experience as that is an awful thing to go through and I wish him so much love and healing, I'm sure this will come as a shock as I never told him how this made me feel. But the pot calling the kettle black in this situation doesn't sit right with me. We need love, we need accountability, we need forgiveness, none of us are perfect."
Costello took to his Instagram to respond to Lewis, addressed "@LeonaLewis No dis no shade no hate, I love you and your music I still follow you but not sure what [happened], I've reached out to you personally and I have 7 emails from the last 4 years and these past 9 weeks from your team and stylist still requesting looks last email 05/17/21."
