Shoni Schimmel Arrested for Criminal Mischief & Assault 2021


Former WNBA player Shoni Schimmel got arrested in her hometown Oregon on 14th June 2021. She has been arrested and put behind bars after a reported violent incident. 


She has been charged with physical assault, criminal mischief, threats, reckless endangerment, domestic abuse, and harassment. The incident was reported on 14th June 2021 at 1.00 am (U.S timing). TMZ reports Shoni Schimmel’s bail is priced at  $48,750.

Shoni Schimmel was born on 4th May 1992 to parents Ceci and Rick Schimmel. She has five brothers; Sun, Saint, Shae, Mick & Jon, and a sister: Jude. Jude is also a national-level basketball player. They were born and raised in Pendleton, Oregon.

Shoni excelled in her basketball skills since her school days. She earned scholarships into universities based on her basketball excellencies. She was acknowledged for her basketball abilities during an early age and was even the subject of a documentary filmed by Jonathan Hock, namely Off The Rezz.   


Schimmel transferred to Franklin High School for the chances of being recruited in Division I under the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). She had her first big match in 2010 after graduation in the High School Coaches' All-America Team under the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. 


Schimmel was drafted to the national team in 2013, with her first international game in Russia. The team reached the quarter finale but got defeated by team Australia. However, they bought home the gold medal in the match against Russia. In 2014, rookie Shoni Schimmel dropped 29 points in the WNBA All-Star game and was named the MVP of the game.

Shoni had been traded through her career in the court, she was first picked by Atlanta Dream and was traded to New York Liberty in 2016. In 2017, she was put out of the Women’s National Basketball Association season reasoned to personal issues. She didn’t get a chance to play in the next season 2018 WNBA as well.


Shoni Schimmel joined the Las Vegas Aces in May of 2018 but was refrained later the same month. She has remained inactive in the court since 2018. She has been working as a basketball coach for infants and young learners as of now.
